Vintage Italian art glass duck decanter
Made by Empoli Glass in the city of Empoli near Florence in Italy. The beautiful green color of traditional Empoli glass is a natural byproduct of the ferrous oxide found in the sands of the local rivers that is used in the making of the glass.
Hand blown glass with inverted, polished pontil mark on seat of body.
In excellent condition
Little feet are applied. Cute little tail on its fat butt was not applied, hand formed with body. Stopper is solid glass, hand formed. The neck piece fits straight and snug in the decanter opening. .
Glass is thick and well made. This beautiful glass is a blackish green.
Nice bottom-wear present, fabulous color. Circa 1920s – 1940s. Gio Ponti was a major Italian designer of the time and used Empoli glass.
Stands 12″ tall, 8″ long and 6″ at widest. Total weight just under 4 lbs.
