Back in the day, during the time between arranged marriages but before the dating game – men and women used to ‘court’. It was a formal ritual, usually supervised by a chaperone, in which a couple could talk, but not touch.
To make it easier for the ‘no touching’ rule to be followed, eligible young single girls would have “courting chairs” in their parlor. You positioned the chairs so that the couple was sitting side by side and face to face, but still in separate chairs.
These two courting chairs are brand new to The Curious Peddler, and while we can’t imagine that your daughter will use them to find her true love, we think you might fall in love with the chairs themselves. If their pretty blue color and delicate shape make your heart go aflutter, come on in and sit right down in them. We won’t even have to call the justice of the peace to hitch you up with these. But don’t wait too long…pretties like these don’t stay available long.
