Ball Mason jars have been around for over 100 years, used by generations of homemakers to preserve the bounty of the earth and feed America’s families. Home canning isn’t as popular as it used to be, but Mason jars have never gone out of style. Still used for ‘putting up’ green beans and jams and chow chow, the jars are just the right size for storage of dry goods. You’ll also find them on the table filled with sweet tea, lemonade, or Coca Cola. And lately, you may see them sporting ribbons and flowers and used as elegant table centerpieces.
Over the years, the Ball company has changed the way jars are made. The logo has changed somewhat. Note that the one in the picture has no underscore and an open “B”. Modern glass making processes makes it less likely to have bubbles in the glass, like the one in the picture.
You’ll have fun ‘dating’ these Mason jars, but you’ll have even more fun deciding what to do with them.
These vintage Ball Mason jars can be found out on our deck, along with many other fun things for your home’s outdoor (or indoor) living space. Like this Hungarian baby bathtub….
